Admission and entry will be subject to the availability of a place. It is important to realise that, due to a variety of factors being considered, the first person on the waiting list does not necessarily get the next available place. If, in due course, a place is offered the booking deposit will be payable when parents accept the offered place. Registration forms must be completed and returned before the start date.
Absence / Illness:
Parents are requested to give the school notice if their child is not attending on a particular day. It is policy that a parent (or named adult) is contacted if a child is sick at school. The parent will be asked to collect the child and the child should not return to school until they have fully recovered. Parents must notify the Montessori School immediately if the child contracts any contagious illness. If a child has vomited or had diarrhoea in the 12 hours prior to arriving at the school, or if s/he has a high temperature s/he should not attend the school for the next 48 hours.
Changes in Fees:
Fee levels will be reviewed periodically and there will be reasonable increases from time to time. Notice of any change will be given. (This does not apply to ECCE – qualified children).
Collection:
Please be prompt about collecting your child (ren). If you cannot collect your own child, and someone other than those listed on the registration form will be collecting, please give permission by letter or phone.
Complaints / Comments:
Any complaints or comments may be made in writing or verbally. All complaints are treated with complete confidentiality and will be responded to as a matter of urgency.
Consent Forms:
Parents will be requested to sign consent forms to allow the school act on their behalf should a medical emergency arise. Parents will also give written permission for their child to go on school outings. Parents will also be asked to sign a consent form giving permission for the school to take photographs of the children working and playing at school.
Emergency Contact:
The school requires the name, address and telephone number, for emergency contact throughout the day. of three adults to whom parental responsibility has been delegated in loco parentis. These should be submitted on the registration form. Children may only be collected by those designated on the enrolment form. If someone other than the designated person is going to collect your child written notification must be given in advance.
Fees:
A booking deposit of ------------------------ by --------------------------------- will secure a place for your child. The deposit will be deducted from the first month’s fees. Once a place has been accepted fees will become payable from the agreed start date. Fees must be paid monthly in advance and remain the same every month including Christmas, Easter, mid-term breaks and Bank holidays. Fees will not be refunded or waived for absence through sickness or family holidays, or if the start date is delayed or postponed by parents.
Children attending the school under the ECCE scheme are also requested to pay a booking deposit. The deposit will be refunded once the fees have been paid by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs.
Food and Allergies:
Parents must notify the school of any allergies or food intolerance that their child may have.
Health Issues:
The school actively encourages healthy eating and exercise. Children should bring a healthy snack to school. It is advised that treats should only be given once a week on Friday or for a special occasion such as birthdays, Christmas, Easter etc. Popcorn nuts or fizzy drinks are not allowed.
Head lice can be a recurring problem and parents are asked to check their child’s hair on a regular basis. If parents find that their child has head lice, they are requested to treat his/her hair before the child returns to school.
Medication:
Parents must notify the school if their child is taking any course of medicine. Medicines are not given at school unless special arrangements are discussed and agreed upon. They are then only administered on parents’ written instruction.
Staff Development and Training:
In order to keep up to date with First Aid and other areas of childcare the school may need to close for an ‘in-service day’ at some stage during the year. Advance notice of any such closure will be given.
Holidays:
The school year runs from September to June and follows the local National School calendar.
Withdrawal Notice:
Once a place has been accepted through payment of the booking fee, two months’ notice is required if it is necessary to withdraw your child from La Petite École.
What Your Child Brings to School:
Children will be expected to bring their own snack. Children should also have a change of clothes at school in case of accidents or spills. Children will also be asked to bring a folder and an item for the arts and craft cupboard. This might be a packet of colouring pencils, a container of glue, a bottle of paint or a packet of washable markers etc. During the summer months, before school re-opens, you will be sent further details regarding what your child will need to bring to school, along with the timetable for the first week of school and the school calendar.
I have read the above policies and procedures and agree to adhere to them.
